If the ECP releases the election date, Qureshi will be the PPP and PML-N candidates, while others, like Iqbal Khan Pitafi, would run independently, and Rashid Khulang will be the Sunni Ittehad Council nominee.

Previously, the newly-appointed Returning Officer Nasir Shahzad Dogar stated that the recount will take place on March 27 and that the date was modified at the request of Alamdar Abbas Qureshi, who was initially unable to attend the recount and subsequently was not present in the city. On another occasion, the RO was absent owing to illness and later resigned from his position.
On Saturday, when the recount was scheduled, Qureshi stated that he was in Islamabad, and the date was changed to March 27.

Mian Alamdar Abbas Qureshi was elected to the Punjab Provincial Assembly as an independent candidate in the 2013 Pakistani general election, representing Constituency PP-255 (Muzaffargarh-V). He joined the Pakistan Muslim League (N) in May 2013.
In the 2018 Pakistani general election, he was re-elected to the Provincial Assembly of Punjab as an independent candidate from Constituency PP-277 (Muzaffargarh–X).
In August 2018, he joined the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). He was re-elected to the Provincial Assembly of Punjab as a PPP candidate from Constituency PP-269 Muzaffargarh-II in the 2024 Pakistani general election but resigned on March 22, 2024.
