Faisal Vawda: PPP’s probable support for Faisal Vawda in Senate elections sparks controversy, with Sharjeel Memon justifying the action amid political tensions.
Sindh Provincial Minister Saeed Ghani stated on Tuesday that a separate candidate Faisal Vawda was in contact with the Pakistan Peoples Party regarding the Senate elections until this morning.
Ghani expressed his sentiments, saying: “The PPP has voted for all of the candidates that the party pledged. The party voted for Faisal Vawda at his request.”
Memon Said Nothing Wrong If PPP Supporting Faisal Vawda
Senior Sindh Minister and Minister for Transport, Excise, and Taxation, Sharjeel Inam Memon, has stated that there is no harm or issue if the Pakistan Peoples Party supports independent candidate Faisal Vawda in the Senate race from Sindh.
According to Memon, Vawda ran for the Senate seat from Sindh on his own. “There would be no issue if he Faisal Vawda gets support [from anyone] in the Senate elections,” he told reporters.
The minister informed media persons that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf hadn’t taken any practical step to implement its announcement of boycotting the Senate elections.
He claimed that there were only nine PTI-backed MPAs in the Sindh Assembly, which lacked the numbers needed to win any Senate seat. He predicted a huge victory for the PPP in Tuesday’s Senate elections.
Memon claimed that after spending six months in prison, the PTI’s founder suddenly became interested in the problem of judicial independence. He noted how the PPP had made sacrifices for the goal of restoring an independent judiciary in the country.
The senior minister regretted that fake cases had previously been filed against Benazir Bhutto and Asif Ali Zardari, and certificates of Sadiq and Ameen had been awarded to the PTI founder, but there was no action for the judiciary’s independence.
Memon claimed that a Mercedes Benz was used to drive the PTI chairman to court during the May 9 riots in the country. He stated that judges appreciated Khan’s arrival in court, and that the PTI founder was also treated as a VIP in prison.
