Iranian Israeli Attack: Biden Vows Full Support for Israel Amid Rising Tensions, Denies Role in Iranian Israeli Consulate Strike, Raises Regional War Fears.

US President Joe Biden issued a quick but severe warning to Iran after it pledged to respond against Israel over a fatal air strike on its consulate in Damascus. “Don’t.”

However, some believe Iran will launch its own attack, heightening worries of a regional war and demonstrating the limits of the United States’ deterrence efforts in the Middle East.

Implications of the Iranian Israeli Conflict for American Policy

The brinksmanship and resulting tensions have put additional strain on Washington’s foreign policy. Already, the United States is wedged between two seemingly opposing priorities: unequivocal backing for Israel and avoiding the Gaza crisis from worsening.

According to CNN, the US expects Iran to launch strikes against multiple targets inside Israel in the coming days and is ready to assist in intercepting any weapons launched at its ally, as the Biden administration is on high alert for the emergence of a significantly volatile and unpredictable period in the Middle East.

Iranian Israeli Conflict: Biden Warns Iran

“Biden is doubling down on a formula that so far has been absolutely disastrous,” said Trita Parsi, executive vice president of the Quincy Institute, a research group that favors diplomacy.

Parsi claimed Biden should have chastised Israel for bombing the Iranian embassy on April 1, breaking international law and jeopardizing US troops in the region.

However, he continued, the Biden administration is rewarding the Israeli government by committing to back it instead.

The United States, unlike several of its Arab and Western friends, has not denounced Israel’s raid on the Iranian Israeli diplomatic facility in Syria, which killed seven members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), including two generals.

However, the White House quickly distanced itself from the strike, emphasizing that the United States was not involved.

According to a senior administration official and a person familiar with the intelligence, the US assessed that Iranian proxies could possibly be engaged in the upcoming assaults as of late Friday, and that targets would most likely be both inside Israel and around the region. The United States’ readiness to intercept weapons launched at Israel demonstrated the amount of continued coordination between the two military.

According to two persons familiar with US intelligence, Iran has been shifting military assets internally, including drones and cruise missiles, indicating that it was poised to attack Israeli targets from within its own borders. According to one source, the US spotted Iran preparing up to 100 cruise missiles.

It was unclear whether Iran was planning to strike from its own turf as part of an initial attack, or if it was attempting to discourage Israel or the US from launching a counter-attack on its territory.

White House Position on Iranian-Israeli Conflict

Iranian Israeli Attack

At the White House on Friday, Biden reiterated his administration’s commitment to Israel’s security in response to reporters’ shouted queries, including if US forces were in danger.

“We are devoted to the defense of Israel,” he went on to say. “We will support Israel we will help defend Israel and Iran will not succeed.”

The White House stated Friday that there is still a “real,” “credible,” and “viable” threat of Iran launching strikes, following Israel’s attack on an Iranian diplomatic post in Syria last week that killed three Iranian generals.

Conclusion

The crisis between Iran and Israel heightens Middle Eastern tensions, calling US strategy into question. Biden’s support for Israel complicates diplomatic efforts, raising questions about regional stability and the effectiveness of US deterrence.
