Dallas Mavericks and Wings Team Up to Empower Girls with GEM Dream Team Kickoff, Providing Basketball Fun and Mentorship Opportunities.
Arlington, Texas (May 10, 2024) The Dallas Wings will hold the inaugural GEM Dream Team Kickoff on Saturday afternoon at College Park Center in Arlington, Texas.
The NBA’s Dallas Mavericks launched the GEM (Girls Empowered by Mavericks) initiative to engage, inspire, and empower young females by using physical exercise as a backdrop for their development and achievement.
The GEM Dream Team consists of 12 girls aged 8 to 13, who were nominated by the Dallas Mavericks for their participation in youth basketball, notably through the Mavs’ GEM initiative.
Throughout the season, the GEM Dream Team will have access to exclusive experiences and interactions with Dallas Wings players, coaches, and front-office personnel.
These and other advantages, including a full scholarship to the Wings’ 2024 Summer Camp, are intended to provide additional mentorship and direction to this chosen group of future leaders.
Behind the Scenes: GEM Dream Team’s Day with the Dallas Mavericks
The day’s festivities begin at 12:30 p.m. CT, when the GEM Dream Team will watch a Dallas Wings preseason practice. The girls will then meet and greet with the Wings’ players and staff, including Head Coach Latricia Trammell and Dallas Wings President and CEO Greg Bibb.

Following their time with the Wings, the GEM Dream Team will be officially announced at a press conference, when the girls will sign team contracts, receive jerseys and hats, and pose for photos.
Media interested in attending the GEM Dream Team Kickoff can contact Pam Flenke, Dallas Wings’ Vice President of Communications and Broadcasting.
Last summer, the Dallas Wings and Dallas Mavericks signed a groundbreaking sponsorship partnership, making the Wings the first WNBA team to sign a headline agreement with an NBA organization owned by a different group.
Throughout the multi-year partnership, the Dallas Mavericks’ GEM logo appears on the abdomen of Wings player jerseys for both home and road games.
In addition to the GEM emblem on the jerseys, Wings players and coaches are completely incorporated into year-round GEM programming, which serves over 3,000 girls in North Texas each year, including Saturday’s Dream Team Kickoff.
Empowering Girls: Dallas Mavericks and Wings Lead to Success
Basketball camps, UT Southwestern’s health and wellness clinics, TIAA’s financial empowerment classes, and workshops on how sports may help develop leadership skills, inclusion, and academic success are among the offerings.
Conclusion
The Dallas Mavericks and Dallas Wings’ relationship through the GEM program illustrates their dedication to developing young females through basketball. Together, they give essential chances for mentorship, growth, and leadership development, resulting in a brighter future for all involved.
