Headline: Denver Nuggets Rebound in Game 3, Giving Timberwolves First Playoff Loss.

Amal Murray rebounded from a difficult start to the Western Conference playoffs with 24 points to lead the Denver Nuggets to a 117-90 victory in Game 3 on Friday night, making the Minnesota Timberwolves the NBA’s last team to lose this postseason.

Nikola Jokic, the three-time league MVP, had 24 points, 14 rebounds, and nine assists, while Michael Porter Jr. scored 21 points to help the Nuggets trim the Timberwolves’ series lead to 2-1 on 14-for-29 shooting from three.

Anthony Edwards led the Wolves with 19 points, but they shot only 10 for 32 from deep, despite Karl-Anthony Towns’ 4-for-5 effort.

They failed to get enough looks for Towns (14 points), lost the ball too frequently in desperate tries to drive to the hoop, and just played slower than they had in the first two games in Denver, falling behind by as many as 34 points down the stretch.

Denver Nuggets face the Minnesota Timberwolves tonight for Game 3

Tonight, the Denver Nuggets will meet the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 3 of their NBA Playoff series. The Timberwolves now lead the series 2-0. With a sweep in sight, the 2023 NBA champion Denver Nuggets must win today or they will be one game closer to an early exit from the conference semifinals.

According to Sportradar, the Nuggets became the 30th team in NBA postseason history to lose the first two home games of a best-of-seven series. Five of them have rallied to win, the most recent being the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round of 2021.

Denver took a much-needed stride forward, scoring 100 points for the first time in three games against Minnesota’s NBA-best defense.

Murray’s Redemption: Nuggets Win as Timberwolves Fail in Tense Game 3

Murray, who scored only 25 points on 9-for-32 shooting with a minus-38 rating in the first two games and was fined $100,000 by the NBA for hurling a hot pack onto the floor from the bench, was booed every time he touched the basketball.

The stone-faced point guard barely looked at the fans as he led the attack with a mix of spot-up jumpers and fadeaways, plainly with more spring in his stride after three days of resting the injured left calf muscle that had hindered him in recent weeks.

The reigning champions delivered on their vow of returning energetically and hitting enough shots to keep the Timberwolves on their toes. The whistles tightened, and Timberwolves defensive standout Jaden McDaniels was hampered by foul trouble.

This was by far the most important game played at Target Center in 20 years, since Minnesota defeated Sacramento in Game 7 to advance to the conference finals, and the loud atmosphere suited the occasion for a fan base that has been as consistently disheartened as any in American pro sports.

The “Wolves in four!” cry erupted just before the opening tip from some confident visitors down the line of Denver’s jaw-dropping Game 2 victory.

Conclusion

The Denver Nuggets’ dominating Game 3 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves signifies a shift in momentum. Amal Murray’s resurgence propelled the Nuggets to a critical victory, bringing them back in contention after a rough start.
