Usman Tariq, Spinner Found By PSL

With only one professional appearance under his belt before this year’s tournament, Usman Tariq is a slow bowler with a mysterious spin that the 2024 Pakistan Super League has discovered.

Pakistani cricket player Usman Tariq Chaudhry was born in Bahawalpur, Punjab, on December 28, 1983. At the tender age of thirteen, Tariq made his List A debut in 1996–97 as a left-handed top order batsman. With his 100th first-class match in the 2006–07 season, he has since grown into one of the most seasoned players in Pakistani domestic cricket.[1] He hit 114 off just 65 balls in a one-day match against Abbottabad that same season. In addition, Usman has three double hundreds and a ton of points in each innings against PIA. Both his father Tariq Abdullah and brother Hammad Tariq were first-class cricket players for Bahawalpur in Pakistan.
Wanindu Hasaranga, who will join the team midway through the competition, was only partially replaced by Tariq when Quetta signed him just prior to the competition.

Performances of Usman Tariq as a Spinner

Tariq didn’t play professionally until late in 2023, and he only made one appearance in the National T20 Cup for Peshawar. That particular instance saw him go wicketless, so his double strike in today’s opening over marked his first wickets in professional cricket.

Usman Tariq’s Connection With KPK:

Tariq had played for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s second XI in a number of 2022 fixtures, both in T20 and red-ball matches, before making his debut for Peshawar. Wanindu Hasaranga, who will join the team midway through the competition, was only partially replaced by Tariq when Quetta signed him just before the competition.

When the Quetta Gladiators and Karachi Kings played in the Pakistan Super League, mystery spinner Usman Tariq attracted attention with his peculiar bowling motion. Tariq, who plays for the Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League, took two wickets in an over to give his team the advantage on Thursday. The mystery of the spinner’s bowling was enhanced by his brief pause before delivery of the ball. After the powerplay, he entered the attack to bowl the seventh over. He took Tim Seifert for 21 on the first ball, taking a wicket.

Journey of Usman in Quetta Gladiators

Quetta only signed Tariq a short while prior to the competition to fill in for Wanindu Hasaranga, who will join the team midway through. Tariq, whose age is not disclosed on any significant cricket website (including the PCB’s), made his debut on Sunday, February 25, for the Quetta Gladiators against the Multan Sultans. In an otherwise high-scoring match, his four overs cost 27 runs.

Usman’s bowling Action and Experiences

Problems weren’t limited to Tariq’s ability to turn the ball both ways. The rookie to the PSL has a very unique way of approaching the crease, almost stopping in his gather. The mystery of the spinner’s bowling was enhanced by his brief pause before delivery of the ball. After the powerplay, he entered the attack to bowl the seventh over. He took Tim Seifert for 21 on the first ball, taking a wicket.

Usman Tariq Psl and Future Perdictions

Tariq was still included in the Quetta XI for today’s (February 29) matchup with the Karachi Kings. With his first delivery of the day, Tariq quickly claimed his first PSL wicket by trapping Tim Seifert in front. Before the over was over, he had already made a great start to the day when he removed James Vince from the game five balls later. He had first beaten the English batsman’s outside edge with a ball that turned away from him, then he had trapped him in front of the stumps with a more conventional off-break.

 Usman’s Education

Usman Tariq went to Roshan High School in Bhawalpur; his academic history is unknown at this time, but his bowling prowess is exceptional.

Conclusion

Many were impressed by Tariq’s first over, including Sir Vivian Richards, the Gladiators’ mentor, who appeared to be very pleased with his efforts.
Additionally, he attracted attention on social media for his bowling, as some fans expressed shock at his bowling action.

Tariq’s unconventional bowling action gives him an advantage over right-handers in the batting position, as former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq pointed out.

“In addition to having a carrom ball, Taqir is also accurate. Just enough spin is applied to beat the bat because it is so subtle. He is challenging for right-handers to face, Misbah stated on A Sports. The seasoned batter analyzed Taqir’s bowling and discussed how he made the hitters make mistakes.

“We have tried and observed what happens if you play him like an off-spinner, but all the hitters make the same error thinking he is delivering the carrom ball. We try to play him in-line by planting our foot, but he will get you bowled or left leg before you can finish the play. He continued, “Even if you pick the first or second ball of the inning when you are a batter, you will make a mistake in some manner.
