Google Pixel 9 Pro: New Renders Reveal Design and Specification Update

Headline:  renders provide an insight into the design and functionality of the future Google Pixel 9 Pro, including the screen size and camera configuration.

The Google Pixel 9 appears in a fresh batch of CAD-based renders, indicating that Google is taking an innovative approach to its phone launch timeline. We previously spotted two sets of renders back in January, which are now believed to be the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL.

The fresh pictures show the same basic design as the Google Pixel 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL, with a flat metal frame and a reworked camera island that is now oval-shaped rather than warping into the frame like the visors on the first and second generations of Pixels.

That’s according to 91mobiles, which is now saying that the renders published earlier this year (produced by OnLeaks) were of the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro “XL” — not the basic Pixel 9, which it’s presenting in new pictures today.

According to the source, the Google Pixel 9 Pro will have a 6.03-inch (probably 120Hz OLED) display, as opposed to the 6.1-inch Pixel 9 Pro and 6.5-inch Pixel 9 Pro XL.

The renders recommend several screen sizes for all three devices:

  • Pixel 9 Pro XL features a 6.5-inch display.
  • Pixel 9 Pro features a 6.1-inch display.
  • Pixel 9 features a 6.03-inch display.

That would result in a modest reduction for the XL variant, as the current Pixel 8 Pro has a 6.7-inch display. However, for other folks, the 8 Pro is simply too huge of a phone, so perhaps Google is attempting to strike a better balance. Both “Pro” Pixel 9s will include a triple camera setup on the rear.

So, if you’ve been waiting patiently for Google to provide its best photographic capabilities in a smaller package, this could be your chance.

The advertised measurements for the vanilla Pixel 9 are 152.8 x 71.9 x 8.5mm. The vanilla Pixel 9 also has a twin camera arrangement, as opposed to the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL, which have three cameras.

Google appears to be taking a different strategy with the Pixel 9 series, introducing three device versions at once. It has to be seen how Google will price its next products and whether the vanilla Pixel 9 will signal the end of the Pixel A-series phones.

We ought to receive a clear image in the coming months, based on previous Pixel series leaks. The official launch is expected to happen in October when Google traditionally debuts its flagships.

Keep in mind that we’re still several weeks away from the new flagship Pixels, and Google has other devices to prioritize first.

conclusion

Between now and October, you can expect to see the Pixel 8A and Pixel Fold 2, which could be introduced at the company’s I/O conference in May. If we fast forward to next year, we could potentially see a Pixel 9A, resulting in four different models of that generation in total.
