Ramadan introduces new series on Pakistani TV. Following the tremendous success of Suno Chanda, we’ve been receiving Ramadan special dramas every year, and every station tries to outdo the others with their series.

This Ramadan, we have seen numerous Ramadan specials, and Hum TV, the pioneer of this trend, has also released two episodes. Very Filmy is a popular drama that has sparked a lot of disagreement among viewers.

“Very Filmy” Pakistani Drama: Criticism and Asks for Banning

Very Filmy Drama

Viewers have been quick to highlight that many sequences include a lot of leisure activities from famous Indian movies.

These scenes are significant to the plot. The narrative centers around the male character impersonating Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan.

His scenes are strikingly similar to legendary scenes from popular films like Pathaan,  Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, and Devdas.

In the most recent episode, Ameer Gilani impressively portrayed SRK.

Critics have noted the absurdity of Pakistani performers presenting themselves through content that copies Indian films, particularly given the two nations’ past hostilities.

They said that India frequently denigrates Pakistan in the media.

Overall, the audience feels disappointed and frustrated.

A user wrote: “I sat downstairs to watch a lighthearted show about Ramadan. “Very disappointed.”

One said, “What type of dramas are they presenting during Ramadan? What has transpired in Pakistan?”

Another individual stated: “Pakistanis have been demonized and presented as terrorists in Bollywood films while here our actors are encouraging their actors.”

People believe that imitating Indian movies is terrible, and that airing this stuff during Ramadan makes no sense. There has been a lot of anger from the audience, and many have even urged for the play to be banned because India always belittles Pakistanis in their content while Pakistanis promote their artists.

Conclusion

It’s distressing to see Pakistani dramas like “Very Filmy” copy Indian themes, particularly during Ramadan. The public is disappointed since the actors’ acts violate the solemn tone of the season, prompting demands for the show’s cancellation.
